De danseressen van de Sultry Chapel repeteren ook echt in een kapel, op alle manieren die God verboden heeft. Als ze op hún knieën zinken is dat niet om te bidden, ook al ervaren ze het wel als iets hemels om helemaal weg te zakken in hun lichaam.

Op 2 oktober roepen ze elk archetype dat ze ooit gespeeld hebben nog één keer op. Voor één avond. Eigenaardig blijft het wel, steeds teruggrijpen op beelden die een Weense man met een sigaar een eeuw geleden verzon. Maar we vinden het gewoon heerlijk om ons te verliezen in een rol. (En de kostuums waren al beglitterd.) Wel met boos feministisch commentaar en humor en veel glitter natuurlijk, want we zijn gewend onze pijn weg te lachen.

The Sultry Chapel presents Rapture

A sensual theatre show full of burlesque, chairdance, pole dance, spoken word and a lot of making love to the floor.

The dancers of The Sultry Chapel rehearse in an actual chapel. They go down on their knees in there a lot. Never to pray, though sinking all the way into your own body comes close enough to heaven.

On 2 October they bring back every archetype they have ever played, for one night only. Although the peculiarity of reaching for projections dreamt up by a Viennese man with a cigar a century ago did occur to us, we just love losing ourselves in a character (and the costumes were already bedazzled). We've added an angry feminist comment, but also a great deal of glitter and humor, because we're used to laughing our pain away.
