Kyoko is 70 years old. She is a Japanese calligrapher and stylist who left her native Japan to live in Paris.
Sanae is 28 and has been practicing contemporary dance since childhood.
Her maternal grandmother was Japanese, but in order to integrate, she chose not to pass on her cultural heritage.
At the intersection of generations, Sanae is searching for her Japanese roots, while Kyoko is rediscovering her youth.

Over het festival.
Het MENA Film Festival toont films uit het Midden-Oosten en Noord-Afrika met een focus op Mensenrechten. Twee dagen prachtige films met een krachtige mening. Voor dit festival zijn 15 korte films en 7 lange films geselecteerd die worden beoordeeld door een internationale jury.
Het festival omvat gratis workshops in tekenen, fotografie, collage en het maken van korte films. Ook zijn er muziekoptredens uit Soedan, Irak, Marokko en Nederland
Over de organisatie.
Stichting Mesopotamië is geïnteresseerd in het verspreiden van een cultuur van vrede en vreedzaam samenleven door middel van culturele, artistieke en sociale activiteiten die zij het hele jaar door in Den Haag organiseert in samenwerking met partnerinstellingen en een breed netwerk van vrijwilligers van inwoners van Den Haag.
Welke films draaien er?
De films van dit jaar presenteren de perspectieven van onafhankelijke regisseurs op belangrijke kwesties in hun samenleving, variërend van gezondheidszorg, werkloosheid, vrouwenrechten en sociale taboes, tot aangrijpende verhalen, diepgaande en bewuste intellectuele behandeling en creatieve artistieke visie.

About the festival.
The MENA Film Festival showcases films from the Middle East and North Africa with a focus on human rights. Two days of stunning films with a powerful message. For this festival, 15 short films and 7 feature films have been selected, which will be judged by an international jury.
The festival also includes free workshops in drawing, photography, collage, and short film production. Additionally, there will be musical performances from Sudan, Iraq, Morocco, and the Netherlands.
About the organization.
The Mesopotamia Foundation is dedicated to promoting a culture of peace and peaceful coexistence through cultural, artistic, and social activities, which it organizes year-round in The Hague in collaboration with partner institutions and a broad network of volunteers from the city's residents.
